THE ARCHBISHOP’S APOLOGY

The Archbishop of Canterbury has personally apologised for the pain and the hurt that the Church has caused the LGBTI community.

The Primates also agreed a Press Communique on Jan 15th 2016 which “condemned homophobic prejudice and violence and resolved to work together to offer pastoral care and loving service irrespective of sexual orientation….The Primates reaffirmed their rejection of criminal sanctions against same-sex attracted people.”

  1. “The Primates reaffirmed their rejection of criminal sanctions against same-sex attracted people.”

That’s a start–although the bizarre phrasing is a clue to what is being reaffirmed and what is not. The Primates did not, for example, reject criminal sanctions against gay people who act on their attractions, for example by marrying.

No — for permitting that, the Episcopal Church gets ecclesiastical sanctions.

  2. When are Christians going to stop persecuting people over the anatomy of who they love? (and I personally want to check every one of their closets to see exactly how many coats they have (see Matthew 6)).
